What Tank Size Do You Recommend?

There are two things to consider when selecting a tank:

1) The carrying capacity of your vehicle and the weight of the water (8.34 lbs per gal).

2) The number of acres you want to cover per load.

The Plot Blaster sprays around 8 gallons per acre at 30 psi and 5 mph. We recommend a 25 gal tank for 3 acres, 45 gal tank for 5.5 acres, 60 gal tank for 7.5 acres, etc.

What Pump Size Do You Recommend?

The Original Plot Blaster is designed to work with any spot sprayer you may already have on hand. But if you're buying a new sprayer to use with it, we recommend mid-sized pumps (2-3.5 gpm).

If you purchase a 4.5 gpm pump or larger, you're going to need to make sure it has a return valve or pressure manifold to be able to return part of the flow to your tank and turn down pressure to your nozzle.

We highly encourage using tanks with pressure regulators or manifolds so that you can monitor your pressure with any size setup you may purchase.

What Type of Nozzle Does the Plot Blaster Use?

We use a brass nozzle that we modify in-house. The design we use allows for our nozzle to build pressure with smaller pumps because of its internal taper, but also work well with larger pumps because of its large orifice size. This also prevents clogging from tank debris.

Our nozzle creates a wide variety of droplet sizes. Other boomless nozzles on the market commonly create large, coarse droplets which results in uneven coverage. Another issue with other boomless nozzles is the large amount of gallons per acre they apply, causing a more diluted spray solution.

Our nozzle allows you to go farther with smaller tanks -- 8 gal per acre seems to be the sweet spot. This creates a much more concentrated solution and helps with the effectiveness of boomless herbicide applications.

Can I Purchase the Nozzle Only?

At this time we not offer the nozzle by itself.

Due to extremely high demand and parts availability during our busiest seasons, we use all the components we can source to keep pace with full kit orders.

If you're an existing customer and have damaged parts, you can contact us for replacements.

What All Can You Spray With It?

We have great results with all types of herbicides. We have done extensive testing with traditional herbicides in extremely thick dense foot plots and selective forestry herbicides on mesquite and other undesirable wood invasive species in pine strands. We also have done extensive testing with selective herbicides in lawn care applications and clover patch maintenance.

Additionally, we regularly use the Plot Blaster to apply liquid lime, liquid fertilizers and other types of soil conditioners or additives.

We have a large number of customers using the Plot Blaster for insecticide applications with great results.

Do You Experience Back Drift When Spraying from an Open Operator Station Machine?

No. We even use the Plot Blaster on ATVs and golf carts.

Be mindful of conditions and don't spray during excessive winds. Turn on the Plot Blaster when in motion and turn it off when not in motion.

Make sure your pressure is properly set with the use of a flow control valve or pressure regulator on your tank. If your pressure is above 40 psi, you will create a finer mist and likely have overspray. Regardless of whether you have a pressure gauge, this is usually pretty obvious from visual observation.
